Gloria L. Horn-Huxoll was born in Harlan and served in the Navy Waves during World War II. She retired in 1986 as Supervisor of the Dental Hygienists' Program at IPFW, which she helped establish in 1964. She previously had worked for various dentists as a hygienist. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church; graduated from Harlan High School and IU School of Dentistry; served as secretary of Lutheran Hospital Board of Directors; was president of Lutheran Health Service Society (formerly the Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary) from 1993 to 1995; and was a member of Isaac Knapp Dental Hygienists' Association.
She received degrees from Indiana University (Certificate, 1952; B.S.Ed., 1974). Ms. Huxoll came to IPFW in 1974 and retired as assistant professor emerita of dental auxiliary education in 1987. In 1988 she was given honorary life-time board status with the IU Fort Wayne Alumni Association.
