About Dean Summers

Dorothy Dean Summers graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor of science degree. She received her master's degree at the University of Wisconsin. Dean taught at IU in the Department of Physical Education for Women. She later received a doctorate in physical education from IU.

In 2008, Dean was honored with the Leanne L. Grotke award, presented to living female alumni who have made outstanding contributions to Indiana University through service to its athletics program. After retiring, Dean moved to Florida.
