Mallory (Stemle) Cain was a four-time First Team All-Conference performer with the Jaguars, including earning Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Year honors her senior season. With Stemle in the lineup, the Jaguars earned back-to-back NCAA Tournament berths in 2003 and 2004 and also claimed the Mid-Con regular season crown in 2003. Personally, the left-hander was 25-5 in her career in Mid-Con regular season singles action and never lost a conference doubles match in her career, going 20-0 in the regular season and 6-0 in the conference tournament. Her 67 singles wins rank second in school history while she holds the school record of 117 singles matches played. Her 84 doubles wins also represent a school record, while her 48 wins with fellow Hall of Famer Michelle Cunningham are the most ever by an IUPUI duo. She won nearly 80 percent of her doubles matches during her four-year career.
She capped her career by being named the Mel Garland Distinguished Student-Athlete Award winner as the top senior athlete in 2006. At the time of her induction, Stemle was the third former women’s tennis standout to be elected to the IUPUI Hall of Fame.
