Vicki Levensky was a four-year starter at first base and IUPUI's softball MVP in 1987. First-team All-American honors followed in 1988. Her contribution extended beyond the team's participation in four consecutive NAIA National Tournaments; Levensky promoted her sport by speaking to groups and participating in many outreach programs for youth.
Levensky did not even play high school softball, which makes her IUPUI performance all the more remarkable. She still holds the IUPUI career record for runs, and is second in hits, triples, RBIs and stolen bases. She was second team All-American in 1987 and NAIA All-District in 1987 and 1988, when she was also named to the NAIA National All-Tournament Team.
After earning her degree, Levensky became a senior program director for the Grand County YMCA. The organization recently recognized her impact there with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Levensky's professional career is on hold while she undergoes treatment for multiple sclerosis.
Notes former coach Nick Kellum, "Vicki was an outstanding contributor to our athletic program and continues to be an emissary for IUPUI athletics."
