From 1999 to 2007, Bill Crowe was the Spencer Librarian at the University of Kansas. He was responsible for the university's rare books, manuscripts, regional history, and archival collections and services at the Kenneth Spencer Research Library. Crowe was KU's Vice Chancellor for Information Services from 1996 to 1999. He served in that position in addition to his position as Dean of Libraries, which he assumed in August 1990.
Crowe has also served as Assistant Director of Libraries at The Ohio State University, and in positions at the University of Michigan and Indiana University. A Boston native, he received a B.A. from Boston College and an M.L.S. from Rutgers University.
