Abigail Kuzma is the co-founder and former executive director of the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic in Indianapolis. Since 1994, the NCLC has delivered legal assistance and educational outreach programs to the city’s low-income areas. A member of the Heartland Pro Bono Council Board of Directors and the Indiana Bar Association Pro Bono Committee, Kuzma has received the Indiana Bar Foundation Pro Bono Publico Award, the Indiana State Bar Association Women in the Law Achievement Award, the Christian Legal Society’s 2004 Christian Legal Aid Staff Member Award, and the 2005 Starkey Entrepreneurial Woman Award. She also was the recipient of the 2008 Antoinette Dakin Leach Award, which recognizes a female attorney for her professional and personal accomplishments. It was a result of her dedication to helping central Indiana’s low-income citizens gain access to legal assistance. Kuzma represents clients in a variety of civil actions, including tax issues, immigration, landlord-tenant issues, housing, public benefits, family law, and contracts.
Prior to beginning her journey with NCLC, Kuzma, whose scholarship covers faith and the law, was subcommittee chief counsel of the U.S. Senate
Judiciary Committee, and prior to that, legislative assistant for Sen. Richard G. Lugar. She currently serves on the Board of Directors at Good Commission Ministries.
