Irene T. Pancol was a former staff member at Indiana University and a Anderson, IN community leader. Born in Bloomington, Pancol attended Indiana University and became the secretary to Dean Patty at the School of Health, Physical Educaiton, and Recreation in 1949. In Anderson, she was active in a variety of organizations including the Madison County Red Cross Drive, Madison County United Fund, the Paramount Theatre Restoration, The First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Columbia and Riley Schools PTA, and she was Assistant Boy/Girl Scout Troup Leader, and the Madison County Cancer Association/Relay for Life. Pancol also served as a Democratic Precinct Committee Person from 1959 to her death in 2008.
Pancol was active in the Indiana University Alumni Association of Madison County, serving as President for 2 years, and on the board for 6 years. In 1998, she received the Indiana University Alumni Club of Madison County Distinguished Alumni Service Award. She also served on the Indiana University Executive Council for 2 consecutive terms. In 2002, Pancol received the IUAA President's Award for her service to the alumni community.
