Hallie won basketball letters at IU in 1955, 1956 and 1957 with a career free throw percentage of .817 which set an IU record at that time. He was a member of the Co-Big Ten Championship Team in 1957 and played professionally with the Harlem Globetrotters for 13 years and then during the next 14 years served in various capacities, including public relations, advance game promotions and ultimately Game Director. He was chosen Indiana's Mr. Basketball in 1953 after graduation from Crispus Attucks High School and was a member of the IHSAA Silver Anniversary Team and was inducted into the IHSAA Hall of Fame in 1978.
