About Irina Petrache

Dr. Petrache received her M.D. degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila, in Bucharest, Romania. Her laboratory investigates mechanisms of lung injury pertinent to cigarette smoke induced chronic lung disease. A major focus of her research is understanding the role of lung parenchymal cell apoptosis in the development of emphysema, employing a translational approach, from basic science to animal models and human disease.
