Steve won basketball letters in 1973, 1974 and 1975 and was a co-captain in 1974 and 1975. He was leading scorer on undefeated regular season team (31-0) of '75 with 16.6 average and leading scorer in '74 with a 16.7 average. He was first team All-Big Ten in 1974 and 1975, Indiana MVP in 1974 and co-MVP in 1975. He was Academic All-Big Ten and Academic All-American in both 1974 and 1975. Green ranked sixth in IU books for field goal percentage with .538 and ranked sixth in books for season field goal percentage. He was first-year head coach Bob Knight's first recruit in 1971 after attending Silver Creek High School in Sellersburg, Indiana. Green was selected by both the Utah Stars in the 1975 ABA Draft and by the Chicago Bulls with the 12th pick of the second round in the 1975 NBA Draft. In 1975-76 he played with the Utah Stars and Spirits of St. Louis, and his NBA career consisted of three seasons with the Indiana Pacers from 1976 to 1979. After his NBA career he played for one season in Italy and has been practicing dentistry in Fishers, Indiana since 1984.
