Ted won basketball letters in 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983 and was co-captain in 1983. He was a member of three Big Ten Championship teams in 1980, 1981 and 1983 and started in the 1981 National Championship game against North Carolina. Ted was first team All-Big Ten pick in 1982 and 1983, Indiana's Most Valuable Player in 1982, and first team All-American pick by the Helms Foundation in 1982 and 1983 and third team All-American pick by UPI in 1982. Ted averaged a career best 19.6 points per game in 1982 and finished his career with a 12.1 scoring average. His 1,336 career point total is among the all-time leaders at Indiana and he set an IU record in 1981 by making 18 of 18 free throws against Illinois and ranks third on IU career list for free throw percentage.
