Joseph D. Barnette, Jr. is the President of the Sexton Companies, a construction and development company based in Indianapolis. Barnette graduated from Wabash College in 1961 and earned his M.B.A. from Indiana University in 1968. He also is a graduate of Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
Barnette has spent his career in financial services, working as president and CEO of numerous banks in Indianapolis and Chicago, including Bank One. He became the President of the Sexton Companies in 2002 after he retired as the chairman of Bank One in Indianapolis. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Wabash College and is a Trustee-Emeritus at National-Lewis University in Chicago. His community involvement includes service on various boards including the Arthur Jordan Foundation, Women's Fund of Central Indiana, the Pacers Foundation, Indianapolis Opera, the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee.
Barnette is a member of the Economic Club of Indianapolis and Meridian Hills Country Club. He and his wife Charlene have three children and reside in Carmel, Ind.
