The late Dr. Lillian Yeager was dean of the School of Nursing 2002 to 2006. She joined the staff in 1973 as an assistant professor. Her leadership contributed to extraordinary growth in the campus' nursing program, making it one of the most popular degree programs at IU Southeast.
She was a dedicated mentor and community leader with a commitment to higher education and lifelong learning, serving on various boards and committees for institutions including the Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital, Frazier Rehab Hospital, Floyd Memorial Hospital's Nursing Department, Home of the Innocents and KYANNA Black Nurses Association. She also was a volunteer for Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky and Friends for Life.
She received the IUSON Alumni Association’s Honorary Alumna Award for her exceptional contributions to the School of Nursing university-wide school system and her dedicated efforts to bring greater recognition to the nursing profession in 2006.
She passed away from ovarian cancer at the age of 62 in 2006.
