David Bloss graduated from IU South Bend with a degree in business in 1973. While attending school he had an accounting job with a small firm in his final 18 months before graduating. He went on to work for Price Waterhouse and then five other firms across the country ending up as chairman, president and CEO of CIRCOR International, which designs and manufactures valves. He retired as Circor's CEO in 2008 and as its Director and Chairman of the Board in 2009, having been with the company since 1999.
Bloss has contributed to the remodeling of the Administration Building and the School of Business and Economics and have endowed the Bloss-Halasi Family Scholarship for accounting, business, business administration, manufacturing, marketing or psychology students who live in St. Joseph County. He also serves on the Chancellor's Advisory Board at IUSB, and the boards of Xerium Technologies, Inc. and Magnetek, Inc. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award along with his wife, Jeanette, in 2010, and the Bicentennial Medal in 2020, for his service to the university.
