Mary T. Folkerth is an assistant clinical professor in nursing at Indiana University-East and the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner of Nurse Educator STOP Program at Reid Hospital and Health Care Services. She received her nursing degrees from Villanova University, University of Pennsylvania, and Indiana University. In her role of professor, Folkerth's primary research interests include child and adolescent obesity and related health problems, collaborative teaching and learning, and the use of technology in education.
Folkerth's career includes teaching and staff positions at Temple University, Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Montgomery County (PA) Civil Defense, and Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. Her awards include the 2001 Excellence in Nursing Award and the 2006 Lillian Yeager Public Service Award from IUPUI, the Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching Award in 2007, and the Indiana University-East Distinguished Faculty Service Award in 2009.
