Prior to joining IUSON as faculty in 2008, Julie A. Meek, PhD, RN was founder and CEO of The Haelan™ Group, a predictive modeling and health coaching company that she founded in 1995. Under her tenure, Haelan achieved best-in-class healthcare cost control for their employer clients and significantly impacted the health management industry by developing high-risk predictive modeling (U.S. Patent, 2009) and health coaching methods. Haelan, a key start-up for Indiana’s emerging life sciences industry, was the first entrant and successful graduate of the Indiana University Emerging Technology Center, bringing 60 new jobs to central Indiana and winning 11 awards for growth, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. Dr. Meek joined IUSON in 2008, quickly becoming part of the core team that developed and earned approval and grant support for the start-up and accreditation of the DNP program. She continues to co-direct the DNP program as Evaluation & Health Systems Liaison. Dr. Meek was awarded the IU Trustee Teaching Award in 2012. Her research interests include predictive modeling and pedagogical reform including ePortfolio, online quality standards, and the impact of service learning and reflection on student learning.
Currently, Meek serves as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Environments for Health. She was the 2000 recipient of the Excellence in Nursing Award from IUSON.
