Herman Oliphant (1884-1939), graduate from IU in 1909, was a law professor at the University of Chicago, Columbia, and Johns Hopkins University. He was General Counsel for Farm Credit Administration, to the Secretary of the Treasury, and to the Department of the Treasury. He was assistant director of War Trade Intelligence, 1917-1918, and of industrial relations division of Emergency Fleet Corporation. He was a member of the board of education of the American Bar Association.
