A longtime alumni volunteer, Jerry W. Logan is a member of the IUAA Executive Council, fulfilled a three-year term on the IU East board of advisors and is a member of the School of Optometry alumni board. He served as co-chair for his class campaign and, along with his wife, Terri, has made significant donations to IU.
Logan has been involved with the Whitewater Valley Chapter of the IUAA since 1985, having served as president and secretary. He has also been involved with the Indiana University Wayne County Alumni Club.
He attended Indiana University in the 1960s, earning a bachelor's degree in 1967 and his doctor of optometry degree in 1969. During his time at IU, Logan's thesis on vision in outer space was published in a national optometry journal. He also served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, later receiving an award for his work with children's vision at Womack Army Hospital.
Outside of IU, Logan works as an optometrist in Richmond, IN. He has been an active volunteer and leader in the local community, having served as president of the Heart Association, the Y.M.C.A., and the Kiwanis Club. Logan also was a board member of the Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce, the Forest Hills Country Club, and the United Way.
