Cynthia A. Metzler is the chief administrative services officer for the U.S. General Services Administration, where she has served since 2011. As a leader, she directs and coordinates a variety of internal management and support services within the agency to help GSA better serve its customers and the American taxpayer.
Prior to her appointment at GSA, she ran her own small business advising nonprofit organizations on building strong and effective management teams. Metzler also served as president and CEO for Experience Works, and provost of Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA, from 2002 to 2004. In the 1990s, she served in senior executive positions within the Department of Labor’s Office of Administration and Management, including acting secretary, acting deputy secretary, and assistant secretary. Metzler has also served as a lawyer at the Federal Labor Relations Authority, advising the chief counsel on key management issues.
Metzler has a B.S. in political science from Purdue University, a J.D. from Indiana University, and a M.S. in organizational development from American University.
