About Jeanette F. Reibman

Jeanette F. Reibman was a former state senator who served in the Pennsylvania legislature from 1966 to her retirement in 1994. Born in Fort Wayne, IN, Reibman held a bachelor's degree from Hunter College (1937), a J.D. from Indiana University (1940), and a LLD from Lafayette College (1969). Prior to her election to the Pennsylvania State Senate, Reibman was an attorney in private practice in Fort Wayne, worked for the U.S. War Department from 1940 to 1942, and spent the next two years on the U.S. War Production Board.

Reibman's first foray into politics was her election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1956. She represented the Northhampton County District until 1966. She then ran for the state senate and won her election in 1966, representing the 18th District. During her time in the state senate, Reibman was the chair of the Committee of Education, from 1971 until 1981, Minority Chair, 1981-1990, and Majority Caucus Administrator from 1992-94.
