About Stephen Akard

Stephen Akard is the vice president and general counsel at Indiana Economic Development Corporation. When he was promoted in 2011, he had been its director of international development since 2005. Prior to joining the corporation, Akard was a foreign services officer for the United States Department of State for eight years.

Akard attended IUPUI and Indiana University, earning a bachelor's degree in Economics and French and a juris doctorate from IUPUI and a M.B.A. from Kelley School of Business.
