Tom Becker is the president of the Chautauqua Institution at Arizona State University. He first joined the organization in 1985 as the vice president of development and vice president of the Chautauqua Foundation. Becker later served as Executive Vice President for Development of Chautauqua Institution and as Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation. Under his leadership, the foundation grew into a professional fund-raising organization achieving over $100 million in support of the Institution. In 2003, he was promoted to his current role at the Institution. The Chautauqua Institution stands for a singular expression of the value of lifelong learning through its unique programming in education, religion, the arts and recreation.
Becker holds degrees from Xavier University and Indiana University. Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs recognized him in 1983 with its Distinguished Alumnus Award. Also, he was awarded the Lifelong Learning Award from Teachers College Columbia University in 2005.
