About Bonnie Litwiller

Bonnie H. Litwiller was a former high school teacher and a professor of mathematics at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedera Falls, IA. Litwiller first received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Illinois State University and then her Ed.D. in mathematics from Indiana University.

Litwiller began her career as a teacher for seven years at Richwoods High School in Peoria, IL. Afterwards, she joined the faculty at the University of Northern Iowa, where she would remain until her retirement in 2000. At UNI, Litwiller was known for her dedication to research especially since she would take one day a week to spend at the library for research and writing. Throughout her career, she wrote over a thousand scholarly publications including over 900 journal articles, four books, editing 26 additional books, and more than 200 presentations.

She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Delta Kappa and Kappa Ma Epislon, Lambta Theta and Kappa Delta Pi. Litwiller also was a member of National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Mathematics Association of America and the School Science and Mathematics. In 2004, she received the Indiana University School of Education Distinguished Alumni Award. Litwiller also was awarded the 2003 Iowa Council of Teachers of Mathematics Lifetime Achievement Award, the 1995 University of Northern Iowa Outstanding Service Award, the 1993 Regents Award for Excellence from the Iowa Board of Regents and the 1982 Illinois State University Alumni Achievement Award.
