About Sylvia Swinton

Sylvia Swinton was a teacher and principal at Waverly Elementary School in Columbia, SC, a professor, and interim university president at Allen University.

Swinton received her B.A. from Allen University in Columbia, SC, and her M.S. and Ed.D. from Indiana University in 1942 and 1956 respectively. Swinton returned to her hometown to teach. Her professorships include Allen University, Morris College, South Carolina State College, and NYU.
