James Mecklenburger is a education consultant with many years of experience, including serving as the president of the Mecklenburger Group and Global Village Schools Institute. He has long been active with the National School Boards Association (NSBA) as its first Director of Research and later Director of the Institute for the Transfer of Technology to Education (ITTE).He also started the NSBA publication, School Board News. His consulting experience includes working with various school districts all over the United States and the Turner Broadcasting Company's school initiative, Turner Educational Services.
Mecklenburger has a master's degree in secondary education from Temple University. He earned a doctorate in education from Indiana University in 1975 and received the School of Education Distinguished Alumni Award in 1989. He first began his career in education as a high school English teacher.
