About Bart Kaufman

Barton L. Kaufman earned his B.S. in life insurance from the IU School of Business in 1962. An athlete, he was a two-time All Big Ten baseball player, finishing as the second leading hitter in the Big Ten in 1961. He is a Zeta Beta Tau alumnus. Kaufman went on to receive a J.D. from the IU School of Law (Bloomington) in 1965. Following graduation, he joined his father in business in wealth transfer planning. It was his father who instilled the logic of supporting charities and Indiana University in particular. Kaufman is the Chairman and CEO of Kaufman Financial Corporation which provides wealth transfer strategies to wealthy families throughout the United States. Kaufman immediately qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table, the premier life insurance sale organization. In 1974, he became a charter member of the Top of the Table, comprised of MDRT’s leading members. Currently, he is one of 16 men world-wide to have earned continuous qualification since inception. Bart is listed in Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in Finance and Industry. He is past president of the International Forum and has shared his expertise with groups around the country. His philanthropy has propelled IU’s mission by working alongside the university and foundation to raise funds for units across the IU including the Helen G. Simon Hillel Center, the Bess Meshulam Simon Music Library and Recital Center, Simon Hall and the Bren Simon Cancer Center. He has also endowed a faculty chair at the Maurer School of Law. Through his continued philanthropy and support of IU Athletics and its student athletes, IU Baseball’s Kaufman Field was named in his honor in 2012.
