About Dorene Hammes

Dorene Hammes set her sights on making a difference through support of education. The couple provided direction and sustained leadership in creation of a one-stop research area with the Hammes Information Commons for students, faculty and the community. In addition to the Hammes Information Commons, the Dorene Dwyer Hammes Media Commons and Cafe, also is in the Schurz Library. It brings cutting edge technology and state of the art services to create an inviting space for faculty and students. Students are able to create multi-media presentations for class projects. Mrs. Hammes served as a volunteer and philanthropist with the Northern Indiana Children's Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, Stanley Clark School, Marian High School and Indian Guides.
