Bert A. Getz is chairman and a director of Globe Corporation, a diversified investment company based in Scottsdale, Ariz. He also serves as a director of several organizations including Globe Development Corporation and Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen). Bert is chair emeritus of the Mayo Foundation, chairman emeritus of the Arizona Community Foundation, and president and director of the Globe Foundation. During the 1960s, Mr. Getz was a director and controlling stockholder of The First National Bank & Trust Company in Belvidere, the Upper Avenue National Bank of Chicago, and the First National Bank of Winnetka. He served as a director for numerous organizations including Security Pacific National Bank, Bank of America Illinois, Ameritas Life Insurance Corporation, Dean Foods Company and the Western Golf Association. Bert was also a member of the Visiting Committee at the University of Michigan School of Business, a national board member of the Smithsonian Institution and was appointed to the board of directors of the Federal National Mortgage by President Ronald Reagan in 1981. Bert is an active member of many community and civic organizations including the Phoenix Thunderbirds, Paradise Valley Country Club, Merit Club, Glen View Club, Chicago Club and the United States Seniors Golf Association. He was the first recipient of Indiana University’s Herman B. Wells Visionary Award in 2000. Bert graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
