- Lieber Memorial Associate Instructor Award - 2014
Dana Stephanie Prewitt is a doctoral candidate and teaching associate in the department of Sociology at Indiana University. Currently working on her doctorate in sociology with a minor in African American and African Diaspora studies, Prewitt was recently selected to participate in IU’s award-winning Preparing Future Faculty program at partner school Hanover College. Prewitt found great inspiration from her time at the acclaimed liberal arts institution and plans to incorporate small-class format experiential teaching methods into her own classroom.
In the spring of 2012 Prewitt was recognized as the recipient of the Department of Sociology’s Glen D. and Dorothy E. Stewart Family Scholarship. A year later she was acknowledged again when she was named the recipient of the prestigious and intensely competitive Edwin H. Sutherland Award for Excellence in and Commitment to Teaching, an annual award given to an exceptional sociology graduate student showing great promise and evidence of effective methods in the classroom.
