Sue is a native of Greenwood, Indiana. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Technology from the University of Indianapolis in 1981.
Workman joined Indiana University in 1991, after spending a decade in technology-related positions in the private sector. Her roles have evolved from positions such as Technology Director for the Department of Political Science to Director of Teaching and Learning Technologies and Director of User Support. As IU’s Associate Vice President for Client Services and Support since 2007, Workman manages 250 staff and a budget of $18 million to serve 130,000 faculty, staff and students. One of her most recent projects involved extensive engagement with IT staff located in departments and other units across the campus. Workman managed to achieve “buy-in” through extensive formal and informal consultation as well as a willingness to give staff outside of central IT leadership roles in the process. The resulting product, IUanyWare, gives all students and employees around-the-clock access to more than 200 software applications from any location or device.
