In 2004, Jamie Oslawski-Lopez graduated from DePauw University with a BA in Sociology and English Writing and in 2006 she completed a Master of Arts in Sociology from The Ohio State University. Currently, Jamie is working on her PhD in Sociology at Indiana University Bloomington. Since 2005, she has held teaching posts at The Ohio State University and Marian College in Indianapolis and has spent the last six years at Indiana University Bloomington as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Instructor, Lab Instructor, and Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Sociology.
Oslawski-Lopez is recognized for her history of excellent teaching, her service to Indiana University, and her mentorship to the students of Indiana University. She has served as a member and organizer for several student groups at Indiana University including Race and Ethnic Relations Graduate Student Group, Mental Health Working Group, and Indiana University’s 17th and 19th Annual Preparing Future Faculty Conference. Jamie has been a mentor for the Sociology Undergraduate Honors Students as well as the Sociology Graduate Student Association First-Year Student Mentoring Program. Her ability to recognize students’ needs, make class material more accessible and meaningful to students, and modeling excellence in teaching for her peers and colleagues has distinguished Jamie as an excellent educator.
Oslawski-Lopez has received the Schuessler Scholarship for Study at the Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research at Indiana University (2010), ICPSR Clogg Scholarship for Study at the Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research through the American Sociological Association (2010), the Lee Student Support Fund Travel Award (2012, 2013), and Preparing Future Faculty Shadowing Fellowship from Indiana University and DePauw University (2013-2014). Jamie is also an Advanced Departmental Fellow at Indiana University. She has also been awarded the Edwin H. Sutherland Award, given in recognition of excellence in teaching by the Department of Sociology at IU Bloomington.
