Jeanette Bloss grew up in South Bend and graduated from Marian High School in 1970. They married two months after her graduation. She later graduated with a degree in journalism from Sam Houston State University in Texas. Mrs. Bloss worked as a reporter and later had a photo studio in Boston. Together with her husband, she retired to a horse farm in Harvard, Mass.
Jeannette and her husband, David, have contributed to the remodeling of the Administration Building and the School of Business and Economics and have endowed the Bloss-Halasi Family Scholarship for accounting, business, business administration, manufacturing, marketing or psychology students who live in St. Joseph County. In 2020, Bloss and her husband received Indiana University's Bicentennial Medal, in recognition of distinguished service to the university.
