- IU Indianapolis Spirit of Philanthropy Award - 2015
The Schneck Medical Center opened in 1911 to serve the healthcare needs of Seymour, IN and surrounding communities. In 1953, the medical center founded The Schneck Foundation to encourage, hold, and administer gifts to the hospital. IUPUI awarded the Schneck Medical Center and The Schneck Medical Center Foundation the IUPUI Spirit of Philanthropy Award for their vital roles as educational partners with IUPUC.
In 2013, they pledged $50,000 to help IUPUC competitively recruit, retain and expand the number of doctorally prepared tenure-track faculty needed to provide excellence in teaching, scholarship and research. Schneck's support helped IUPUC reach its goal of 50 percent tenure-track faculty. In 2014, Schneck gifted $35,000 to the IU School of Nursing at IUPUC to help fund a new nursing faculty that was needed in order to expand IUPUC's B.S. in Nursing program by 20 students. Schneck also piloted the IUPUC Clinical Homes research project to help build new, more effective delivery models for the clinical education of IUPUC students.
