About Yvonne Perkins

During her term of service with the IUPUI University Library Community Board, Yvonne Perkins has been a strong supporter of the library's Diversity Scholars program, which offers outstanding undergraduates a yearlong paid internship in the library. Guided by library staff, Diversity Scholars help carry out the library's diversity initiatives, gaining professional experience and valuable research skills as a result. Through Perkins' advocacy and the support of Citizens Energy, where she serves as vice president for corporate communications and chief diversity officer, the library helps IUPUI students build a bridge to a bright future in the professional world.

Perkins has worked at Citizens Energy for more than 40 years. In her current role, she oversees corporate communications, media relations, community development, corporate philanthropy, brand management and Citizens' diversity strategy. In addition to the IUPUI Library Community Board, Perkins serves on various other boards including EmployIndy, Downtown Indy, Indiana Historical Society, Ivy Tech Community College Central Indiana Board of Trustees and Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky.
