Gene Glick believed in giving back to the community. In addition to the company's commitment to providing quality housing for people of all income levels, he and his wife, Marilyn, established the Glick Family Foundation in 1982 to channel their philanthropic giving. Glick's philanthropy focuses on four impact areas: education, arts and creative expression, need programs and alleviating human suffering, and self-sufficiency and job training. This focus is epitomized by the TeenWorks program, a summer internship program for economically disadvantaged youths that began as the foundation’s Pro-100 program over 30 years ago. Today, TeenWorks is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that provides a six-week paid internship program for teens to gain real work experience.
The Glick Family Foundation has also given generously to IU in the form of The Gene B. Glick Company Scholarship, which was one of the first scholarships to be awarded to business students in the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis program. Established in 1996, the Gene B. Glick Company Scholarship recognizes and rewards students who exhibit academic merit and financial need. Two undergraduate students, one from the Indianapolis program and one from the Bloomington campus, majoring in entrepreneurship, finance, real estate or management, are awarded this prestigious scholarship each year.
