Jim Schellinger graduated from the University of Notre Dame, working his way through to earn a Bachelor of Architecture degree. After starting a job with Cole Associates, Schellinger was transferred to Indianapolis. He left Cole Associates to become a project manager at CSO Architects in 1987. Schellinger worked his way through the company, eventually becoming its president in 1996. Throughout his career, Schellinger has led a variety of successful projects in the civic, transportation, corporate commercial, health and wellness, and education market sectors. The firm’s projects include the Circle Centre Mall, the Indiana State Government Center North, Anthem Operations Center, numerous office buildings, academic facilities, and the new Indianapolis International Airport. Currently, in addition to serving as Principal-in-Charge or Project Executive on projects, Schellinger serves as the Chairman and CEO of CSO.
Schellinger has also served on the Indianapolis Capital Improvement Board, where he led the New Stadium and Convention Center Task Force. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, as well as the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
In 2008, Schellinger was one of the first people selected for the School of Public and Environmental Affairs' Dean's Council in recognition of his maintained interest in public policy and politics. He and his wife, Laura, are active supporters of SPEA, and have provided scholarship funds to help students realize their goals. By ensuring the SPEA students will be prepared to serve the public interest, Schellinger has demonstrated his deep devotion to the State of Indiana's future success.
