- IU Indianapolis Spirit of Philanthropy Award - 2012
The National Association of Purchasing Management of Indianapolis Inc. (now ISM - Central Indiana, Inc.) was originally started in September 1917 as the Purchasing Agents Association of Indianapolis. Their focus was to foster and promote the interchange of ideas and cooperation of their members in the commercial and government purchasing communities. Their organization now exists to provide opportunities, resources, and leadership for professional development, certification, and networking for their membership, and to advance the purchasing and supply management profession within our affiliate area.
The drive to advance their profession within the area has led to generous support of the IUPUI Kelley School of Business. In 2008, then- National Association of Purchasing Management in Indianapolis (NAPM-Indinapolis) partnered with the Indiana University Kelley School of Business at IUPUI by making a $40,000 donation to support undergraduate student scholarships. Each scholarship, the NAPM Hauger/Wilson Scholarship for Supply-Chain Studies, consists of $10,000 over the course of two years, and was the largest single scholarship offered to outstanding Kelley students enrolled full-time in the supply-chain management studies. Kelley students also receive free NAPM-Indianapolis student memberships, which includes networking opportunities with NAPM-Indianapolis members, monthly newsletters, student discounted monthly development meetings, seminars conducted by industry leaders and educational resources.
