- IU Indianapolis Spirit of Philanthropy Award - 2012
Every October, thousands of you people wearing blue corduroy jackets are spotted in Indianapolis. The jacket, along with the emblem, state, and city emblazoned across its back, identifies a member of the National FFA Organization. Formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, this organization, with over half a million members, inspires today's youth to live by the principles of service and leadership. Fifteen years ago, when the National FFA Organization moved its headquarters to Indianapolis, it began a partnership with the University Library's philanthropy archives, preserving its history and documenting the development of youth leadership in America.
Since then, other valuable collections have come to IUPUI through their supportive recommendations. The University Library is grateful to the National FFA Organization for helping to make its philanthropy collections one of the most comprehensive repositories of philanthropy and nonprofit information in the world, through gifts of funding, collection, and advocacy.
