About Mom Luang Pin Malakul

Thai educator and writer Mom Luang Pin Malakul served as Thai Minister of Education and Culture. Minister Malakul oversaw the development of the first national education plan in Thailand, was a pioneer in educational radio broadcasting, and developed and implemented teacher-training programs throughout Thailand. In 1948, alongside IU President Herman Wells, Malakul laid the foundation for educational relations between Indiana University and the Thai educational system, establishing one of the oldest international relationships in IU history.
