Andrya Lowther is past president of the American Foundation for Vision Awareness and served on the faculty as a leader in visual information processing, demonstrating that improved visual skills enhance academic potential. The IU School of Optometry offers an award in her name to third or fourth year optometry students with a record of humanitarianism or service to community. She and her husband, Gerald, have long supported IU School of Optometry initiatives such as the Jack Bennett Classroom, the Borish Center, and Atwater Eye Care Center.
