Donald Lamport graduated from Ohio State University in 1954 as a registered pharmacist. Following graduation, he joined Parke-Davis and remained with the company for more than 40 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Lamport's wife, Nancy, joined the IU faculty in 1977. From that moment, the Lamports became strong supporters of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Besides donating to the school on a regular basis, the Lamports established the Occupational Therapy Student Horizon Education Fund to enhance student educational experiences. they also philanthropically supported the Cel Hamant Occupational Therapy Professorship and the IU Simon Cancer Center's Breast Cancer Research Fund. In 2010, the 25th year of the Lamports' support of IU, their generosity was recognized with an IUPUI Spirit of Philanthropy Award.
