- IU Indianapolis Spirit of Philanthropy Award - 2010
Nancy Lamport completed a B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy at Ohio State University in 1953. She joined IU as a faculty member in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in 1977. She then furthered her education with a M.S. of Education in 1984. Lamport taught for 18 years until retiring as professor emerita.
From the time she joined the faculty, Lamport and her husband, Donald, became strong supporters of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Besides donating to the school on a regular basis, the Lamports established the Occupational Therapy Student Horizon Education Fund to enhance student educational experiences. they also philanthropically supported the Cel Hamant Occupational Therapy Professorship and the IU Simon Cancer Center's Breast Cancer Research Fund. In 2010, the 25th year of the Lamports' support of IU, their generosity was recognized with an IUPUI Spirit of Philanthropy Award.
