- IU Indianapolis Spirit of Philanthropy Award - 2008
George Miller grew up in Gary, Indiana and came to Indiana University for college. Accepted into the IU School of Business, he was active in the Marketing Club, the Young Republicans, the IU Student Foundation, and as a rider in the Little 500. He received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1965 and his M.B.A. in transportation in 1968. After graduation George remained active with IU as president of his local alumni club.
During his career, Miller held numerous executive positions with such firms as Sears, Roebuck and Co., C.T. Farm and Country, Home Base, and The Home Depot. He was recognized with a 2008 IUPUI Spirit of Philanthropy Award for his ongoing support of IU students through the Gordon C. Miller Scholarship.
