Tom Ward, president and founder of Omni-site.net, was a first-generation college student who started college believing that a Bachelor of Science degree was beyond his grasp. Like many students, he worked full-time while pursuing his engineering degrees, ultimately attaining his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology in 1985.
Ward later founded Omni-site.net, a web-to-wireless telemetry company providing products and services that enable remote control and monitoring of equipment and machinery. The company has an excellent national reputation in wastewater monitoring and has significant market share.
Ward has provided exemplary voluntary support to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology’s Industrial Advisory Board, sponsors a number of student scholarships in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, and provides employment opportunities to graduates. He is also a strong advocate of the Richard G. Lugar Center for Renewable Energy, recently establishing a new start-up, Xylanco, to promote biofuel technology and the use of alternative fuels.
