Thomas K. Glenn II is a native resident of Atlanta, Georgia. He received an AB degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and MBA and PhD degrees from Georgia State University. His business career began at Trust Company Bank (now SunTrust). He later taught Management and Entrepreneurship at Emory University's School of Business. Subsequent consulting endeavors resulted in his leaving the teaching profession to become president of a cost engineering firm. He now devotes most of his time to philanthropic interests and serves as President of the Hilda and Wilbur Glenn Family Foundation. Glenn has served on a number of nonprofit boards, including the Westminster Schools, the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and the Georgia Chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
A devoted philanthropist recognized for his outstanding work, Glenn was named Atlanta’s 2004 Philanthropist of the Year. Recognizing the influence of education on adolescents’ philanthropic identities and with a commitment to helping students become generous and effective donors, the family established the Wilbur and Hilda Glenn Institute for Philanthropy and Service Learning at Atlanta’s Westminster Schools in 2003. In 2007, the Wilbur and Hilda Glenn Family Foundation established the Glenn Family Innovation Fund at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University. This gift endowed the Center with the flexibility to advance its cutting-edge work, ensuring that onprofits around the globe have the knowledge, leadership, and training to fulfill their missions.
