Mark Holeman is the founder of Mark M. Holeman, Inc., a full service landscape firm. Since its founding in 1962, Mark M. Holeman, Inc. has created countless distinctive landscapes and with them has established a reputation for excellence. In 2005, Holeman completed gifting his business to key employees and retired. However, he continued his landscape architect practice with the firm.
Holeman graduated from Butler University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. He was active outside of his business, serving on the board of governors of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, as president of the Indiana Nursery and Landscape Association, and as a member of the Indianapolis Museum of Art Horticultural Society. He was awarded an Alumni Achievement Award from Butler University for his support of the school.
In 2007, Holeman and his wife, Carmen, made a generous gift of artists' books, fine press books, art books, and custom display cabinetry to the University Library. Their gift made it possible for the Herron Art Library to expand its special collection of artists' and fine press books. The cabinetry helped to create an attractive artist alcove designed to support interactive teaching for the Herron school of Art & Design's book art curriculum. The Holemans' friend Charlene Garry, a London-based publisher and fine press book agent, helped them to acquire the majority of their fine press books.
