About Jeff Prince

Jeff Prince is an Associate Professor of Business Management and the Harold A. Poling Chair in Strategic Management at the Kelley School of Business. Prince completed a dual degree in 1998 at Miami University, earning a B.A. in Economics and B.S. in Mathematics and Statistics. He spent a summer as a Cryptologic Mathematician at the National Security Agency. He then earned both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University in 2000 and 2004, respectively. Before coming to IU in 2010, Prince was on the faculty of Cornell University, where he was an Assistant Professor of Applied Economics and Management.

Prince is an accomplished empirical researcher in the broad categories of industrial organization and applied econometrics. His primary focus is on technology markets and telecommunications, having published works on dynamic demand for computers, Internet adoption and usage, the inception of online/offline product competition, and telecom bundling. His research also encompasses topics such as household-level risk aversion, airline quality competition, and regulation in healthcare and real estate markets.

Prince's works have appeared in top general interest journals in both economics and management, including the American Economic Review, the International Economic Review, Management Science, and the Academy of Management Journal. He has also published in top journals in industrial organization, including the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy and the International Journal of Industrial Organization. He is currently a co-editor at the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, and is on the board of editors at Information Economics and Policy.
