- IU Indianapolis Spirit of Philanthropy Award - 2002
The Inland Foundation was established in 1951 to serve as the principal funding entity for the social investments of Inland Paperboard and Packaging, Inc. Since its inception, the Inland Foundation has dedicated itself to serving as a contributing citizen and leader in the communities where the company makes its home. IUPUI has become a fortunate partner of Inland in the establishment of outstanding programs and scholarships which enrich not only the University, but also the city of Indianapolis.
In the early 2000s, Inland gave a gift to Herron School of Art which combined their interests in civic responsibility and the arts. Together, the Inland Foundation and Herron initiated a summer Art Camp unlike any other the city had ever seen. Art Camp provides 40 students per summer with an active awareness of the power of the creative problem-solving mind as a positive vehicle for self-expression along with practical experience in the studio arts.
