Elton T. Ridley graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Management and Marketing in 1950 and received and MBA in Hospital Administration from the University of Chicago in 1952.
Ridley's involvement with Indiana University and Indiana healthcare made for an impressive career. He served as an associate professor of hospital administration, the Interim director of the Division of Allied Health Sciences, and a consultant at the IU Medical Center. Ridley retired from IU as the Director of Hospitals, responsible for the administration of Coleman, Long, Riley and University Hospitals.
His academic honors include being a Fellow in the American College of Hospital Administrators, a listing in Who's Who in the World, and a life membership in the American Hospital Association. He was recognized as a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Robert 0. Orr in 1986.
Ridley's professional memberships include: American College of Hospital Administrators, American Hospital Association, Children's Hospitals, Executive Council, University Hospitals Executive Councils, Indiana Advisory Hospital and Heath Facilities Planning Council. He was on the Board of Director of Indiana Health Careers, Inc., Vice President of the Indiana Health Council, and President of the Indiana Hospital Association.
Apart from his professional service at IU, Ridley was the Honorary Co-Chair for the School of Allied Health Sciences Comprehensive Campaign and a member of the Development Council, on Dean's Council Board of Directors at the IU School of Medicine, and a member of the IU's Wellhouse Society, Arbutus Society, Varsity Club, Chancellor's Circle.
