About The Indianapolis Foundation
The Indianapolis Foundation is a community foundation supported by gifts and bequests from a variety of donors. It was created in 1916 to: ensure that the quality of life in Marion County continuously improves; help where needs are greatest and the benefits to our community are most substantial; and provide public-spirited donors a vehicle for using their gifts in the best possible way now and in the future as conditions in our community inevitably change. In 1997, The Indianapolis Foundation partnered with the Legacy Fund of Hamilton County to create the Central Indiana Community Foundation that allows regional philanthropic leadership.
The Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, endowed an academic chair in the amount of $1 million at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University in honor of the civic leadership of the Efroymson family in Indianapolis. It recognizes the philanthropic legacy of three generations - Daniel, Robert and Gustave Efroymson.
